New album REPRIEVE coming Oct 3rd!

The Penske File’s new album Reprieve is their most realized and sonically expansive effort to date. From the raw, stripped down “Rocking Chair,” to the Indie Rock epic, “Black T Shirts, Bad Habits,” to the blistering double time Punk Rock energy of its opening track, “Dead Maps,” it feels like the entire history of what inspires the band is on display in new and refreshing ways that reach further than previous efforts, all while remaining cohesive and unique to the band’s sound. Recorded in their hometown of Hamilton, Ontario and produced by long time best friend of the band, Adam Michael, the meat of the record was tracked live at Halo Studios over two days, while the vocals and overdubs were recorded over successive months at Michael’s Shrimp Studios. Throughout it all, the making of “Reprieve” was a labour of love and celebration that marks a unique passage of time in the life of the band and the lives of its members. “The writing and recording of Reprieve was unique to our previous records in many ways,” says Travis Miles, the band’s Guitarist and Vocalist, “for one, there was over a five year gap since we wrote the songs for our last record ‘Half Glow.’ We were really chomping at the bit to get back at it and there were so many songs and ideas waiting in the wings to be explored. With so much raw material to work with, and even more excitement to be doing so, we made a conscious effort to branch out: to arrange songs that are reminiscent of what turned us on to punk rock in the first place, but also to craft others that are so far removed from that sonic landscape. We opened the doors to whatever came creatively and Reprieve is what walked in.” Miles continues, “writing and recording this record felt like home. There’s something about working on songs and crafting an album with Alex and James that brings me so much peace and fulfillment. More than ever, this record feels like true snapshot of our lives over the last few years and I couldn’t be more proud or excited to get it out in the world and out on the road.”
